Martin Reist graduated as a veterinarian from the University of Bern. He did his first doctorate in veterinary medicine at the University of Zurich and his second doctorate in animal science at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. In 2003 after a postdoc period working as researcher in the private sector, he assumed responsibility as head of surveillance of epizootics at the Federal Veterinary Office (FVO), where he was promoted to the management board as head of monitoring in 2007. In 2010 he joined the Veterinary Public Health (VPH) Institute of the University of Berne, and in 2012 he successfully submitted his habilitation thesis in VPH. During this time he founded Sanisys Inc. together with Patrick Presi. In 2013 he returned to the FVO where he was engaged in the establishment of the Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (FSVO). From 2014 to summer 2018 he was head of the innovation division and a member of the managing board at the FSVO. In 2018 he completed a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in general management at the University of Zurich. In 2019 he was elected CEO of the Swiss group for clinical cancer research SAKK.

After graduating in biology at the University of Lausanne, Patrick Presi did his PhD at the University of Bern. Thereafter he has worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Veterinary Public Health Institute, University of Bern. At the same time he founded Sanisys Inc. together with Martin Reist and was managing director until summer 2018. He managed many mandates as senior consultant in statistics and as lecturer in the national course for laboratory animal sciences of the University of Zurich. In parallel he completed a degree in pedagogics and gained a diploma in teaching natural sciences at secondary level. Today he is working as a teacher and on a mandate basis as senior consultant for Sanisys Inc. In 2018 he completed a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in school mediation at the Pedagogic University of Bern, Jura and Neuchâtel (HEP Bejune).
